Spitfire team facilitates Business Model re-design with global infrastructure client

Business Model Canvas

Spitfire has been supporting a global infrastructure client with the development and implementation of multiple Process and Tools improvements. Delivering challenging infrastructure projects is second nature to this client however the increasing pressures on delivery timescales and project margin drove a need to look at the end to end business differently in order to increase value stream visibility and control.

During an initial workshop involving senior stakeholders, following clarification of objectives and goals of this part of the business, the Business Model Canvas was used to enable the team to articulate the key elements of the business. Following the Kotter 8 Step Change Model, the Guiding Coalition developed the Business Model Canvas.

The follow-on Organisation Design workshop generated an aligned cross functional stakeholder view of the organisation required to deliver the Business Model Canvas Strategy using the SIPOC tool to articulate each function's core processes, their outputs to internal and external customers together with their inputs and suppliers.

Confident that a structured process has been used to develop the solution to date, the senior stakeholder team can now build the detail around the organisation and develop the road map to transform from the current state to the future state.

Marc Sylvester, Director at Spitfire said, "It's been a real pleasure to work with this open-minded team, prepared to challenge current state in order to provide a better value proposition to their infrastructure customers whilst developing a structure which will give them far more cost and margin certainty. We look forward to supporting them with the next steps of transformation."

Fraser Greenwood, Railways Signalling and Communications Leader commented, "Always a pleasure working with these guys - Marc Sylvester and the team! Guiding us through our signalling delivery transformation programme in a structured, efficient, auditable way and providing top quality dashboards for reporting and briefings. The support is much appreciated."
