“Towering some 3600 feet with near-vertical granite walls in Yosemite National Park in California stands El Capitan. For many years it was considered that climbing El Capitan was impossible. In 1957, undeterred by others’ beliefs of impossibility, Warring Harding took a group to try and create a route in a section known as the “Nose” with the necessary fixing points which would be used on a subsequent climb. Harding and two other climbers achieved this feat only 12 months later.
