Luxury UK manufacturer turnarounds supply operation

Working with a luxury manufacturer at their UK base, Spitfire spearheaded a 9 month transformation project to turnaround their internal supply operations function and develop management capability.

Developing the project scope in collaboration with the company's own senior leadership team, Spitfire's remit was to quickly stabilise delivery performance, restructure the organisation of the supply operations unit and develop capability across the local management team.

The 9-month assignment recently reached a successful conclusion and as a result of Spitfire's stewardship delivery performance is under control and plans are underway to sustain the gains made and promote a process of continuous improvement. Key team members have been vocal about the success of the project, with one commenting,

"I have learnt a great deal over the last few months. The excellent coaching from Spitfire has enabled me to think about situations from a higher altitude. Understanding the difference between leadership and management and knowing how and when to adapt has been useful.

"Using the skills I have learnt this year has enabled and encouraged me to become more involved in a one-team approach and bring my skills to the group. I have gained the confidence to coach and empower more of my team to undertake and own certain tasks, which in turn has improved the togetherness of my teams and working environment, as well as enabling me to focus on more strategic projects."

Spitfire has been appointed to coach and develop other key personnel and business units as a direct result of the initial phase's success with a new goal of increasing teamwork and engagement across the organisation as a whole.

A 9-step rapid improvement pilot event will be led by the Sptifire team to train and coach internal capability in data driven problem solving. This will be a hands-on experiential learning exercise to deliver tangible, sustainable results. The senior team is strongly engaged with the pilot project and intends to roll out a similar program throughout the organisation in order to build capability in light of ambitious growth plans.
